APIC Congratulates the World Peace Council – On 75 Years of Struggle

Originally published on APIC

The World Peace Council (WPC) was founded right after the end of the Second World War in 1949, on the ashes of European fascism after the liberation from Nazism by peace loving forces.

Founded on the principles of “No more War – No More Fascism”, the WPC continues to this day to be on the side of the poor and oppressed peoples of the world. Over the years, the World Peace Council has mobilized its global, national affiliates to oppose US and NATO imperialist interference in the domestic affairs of other countries.

The WPC has opposed NATO from the very beginning, denouncing it as the armed wing of Western imperialism.

The world peace movement found its greatest source of support in the socialist countries of the world, and with their temporary demise the forces of war and economic imperialist domination increased their strength. With NATO’s aggressive territorial encirclement of countries who refused domination by Western capitalism, the WPC proved and reaffirmed its historic role as a leading force against NATO.
The American Peace Information Center (APIC) congratulates the WPC on its 75 years of struggle.
